Getting around in Stockholm

The public transport system in Stockholm is extensive, well organized and safe.

You buy your travelcard and single tickets/pre-paid single tickets in advance at SL Center or ticket agents. SL Center is located in the ticket hall at the Central Station in the lower hall. Other ticket agents, mostly news agents, have the SL logo clearly visibly displayed.

Metro/Underground

The metro/underground has 100 stations on three lines: Green line, Red line and Blue line. In the inner city the trains depart between every 2 minutes and every 5 minutes. The trains are comfortable and very quiet. The Stockholm metro/underground is the world’s longest art exhibition. 140 artists have decorated almost 90 of the stations. The closest entrance to the metro/underground is located 10 meters from the entrance to the Nordic Sea Hotel. From the hotel you can reach all the three lines within a 5 minute walk.

Commuter trains

All commuter trains stop at Stockolm Central, which is located within a 5 minute walk from the Nordic Sea Hotel. With commuter train you are able to quickly access areas further out from the Stockholm city centre.

buses

NB! Tickets are no longer sold onboard buses. You buy your travelcard and single tickets/pre-paid single tickets in advance at SL Center or ticket agents. Stockholm has an extensive bus system. The following bus routes are within walking distance from the Nordic Sea Hotel:

Bus 65 – bus stop Kungsgatan
Bus 65 towards Skeppsholmen – the bus stop is located to the left (north) on Vasagatan
Bus 65 towards Norra Station – the bus stop is located across the street from the hotel

Bus 47 – bus stop Kungsgatan
Bus 47 towards Djurgården – the bus stop is located to the left (north) on Vasagatan
Bus 47 towards Tomteboda/Karolinska Institutet – the bus stop is located across the street from the hotel

Bus 1 – bus stop Vasagatan
Bus 1 towards Frihamnen – cross the street (Vasagatan), turn left and follow Vasagatan to Kungsgatan. Turn left onto Kungsgatan. The bus stop is 20 meters onto Kungsgatan.
Bus 1 towards Essingetorget – exit the hotel, turn left and follow Vasagatan to Kungsgatan. Cross the street (Kungsgatan) and turn left onto Kungsgatan. The bus stop is 20 meters onto Kungsgatan.

Taxi

Available cabs can be found outside the Arlanda Express terminal until around 00:55 when Arlanda Express closes. If you intend to travel during the rush hour on weekdays (07:30-09:30 and 16:30-18:30) we recommend booking a taxi in advance. Please ask our staff at the reception for help. A taxi ride within the inner city is about 100-150 SEK.
We recommend that you use one of the following taxi companies: Taxi Stockholm, Taxi Kurir or Taxi 020.
