Handicrafts and jewellery

You’ll find plenty of charming little handicraft boutiques all over Stockholm. Gamla Stan and Södermalm in particular are home to dozens of boutiques. A good tip is to turn off the main tourist street in Gamla Stan and explore Österlånggatan and its surrounding streets, before walking up to Slussen and along Hornsgatan, where galleries, interior design stores and handicraft boutiques line the street. Here is a small selection of boutiques that we think are worth a visit.

  • Blås & Knåda

    Hornsgatan 26
    +46 8 642 77 67
Another handicrafts collective, where the designers themselves work in the shop. The part facing onto the street is often used for separate exhibitions, but you will find fantastic handicrafts inside in the shop.

  • Konsthantverkarna

This little boutique at Slussen displays handicrafts made by its 124 members. There’s everything from attractive everyday utility articles to objets d’art. They also have a large selection of jewellery that is worth a closer look. You’ll find everything from Mia E Göransson’s fragile birch candlesticks to Malte Ström’s sleek silver bracelets here.

  • Iris Hantverk

    Kungsgatan 55
    +46 8 39 90 90
Iris Hantverk is just a stone’s throw from the hotel. A little handicrafts boutique combining both rustic and new design influences. Natural materials like wood and flax create a sense of honest authenticity. The store is just a part of Iris Hantverk, a project that is over one hundred years old, where visually impaired people bind brushes according to the traditions of Swedish craftsmen. The project also develops household tools for the visually impaired. These are available for purchase in the store.

  • Mikaela Willers butik och ateljé

    Sankt Paulsgatan 11
    +46 8 640 85 15
In this little boutique and studio just behind Götgatan on Södermalm, you can admire Mikaela Willer’s baroque pots, characterised by ceramic flowers and bright colours. Mikaela also displays the work of other designers in her little boutique, which is well worth a visit.
