Nordic Sea Hotel and Nordic Light Hotel, with a total of 542 rooms at Vasaplan in Stockholm city, are complementing their environmental certification with the ISO 14001 international environmental standard. The hotels have been certified to the Nordic Ecolabel (“Svanen label”) since 2007. ISO 14001 allows the hotels to integrate their environmental work further, taking it up to the next level.

Designer Alexander Lervik is accepting the challenge of providing Nordic Sea Hotel with a brand new look. With 367 hotel rooms at Vasaplan, right in the heart of the city, Nordic Sea Hotel is one of Stockholm’s largest hotels. Total renovation will commence in 2011 and the prototype rooms will be ready by the start of Stockholm Design Week in February 2011.

Yesterday Tobias Ekman was appointed the new General Manager with overall responsibility for the hotels’ operations. Tobias Ekman was most recently employed as General Manager at Stockholm’s largest hotel, Clarion Hotel Sign. He will be taking up his post in September.

April 21 sees the reopening of the world’s first permanent bar made of ice, ABSOLUT ICEBAR STOCKHOLM, at the Nordic Sea Hotel. The bar has received a major facelift, thanks to the talents of graffiti artists Daniel ”Ikaroz” Diaz and Pierre ”Slak” Johansson. Ice artists Mark Armstrong and Mikael Nilsson also made their mark. The conversion means that ABSOLUT ICEBAR STOCKHOLM, which previously had room for 30 people, will now be able to fit in twice as many guests.
